The polling date for the election is 5th September 2023, and a huge crowd can be seen near the polling booths in the constituency to cast their ballot since morning 7:00 am. The voting continues till 6: 00 pm.
The poll needs to be done due to the demise of former Kerela Chief Minister and Congress stalwart Oommen Chandy in July this year. In an apparent attempt to capitalize on the sympathy wave following the former CM’s passing, the Congress-led UDF opposition has fielded Chandy’s son, Chandy Oommen.
